Environment (Air Quality and Soundscapes) (Wales) Act 2024
This Act aims to establish a legal framework to improve air quality and manage soundscapes in Wales. It empowers Welsh Ministers to set long-term air quality targets, particularly for pollutants like PM2.5, and introduces duties for monitoring, reporting, and maintaining air quality standards. The Act also mandates the development of a national soundscapes strategy and amends existing legislation to strengthen enforcement, promote awareness, and support active travel as a means to reduce pollution.

    The following sections enter into force on this date: s. 28, s. 29 and s. 30. The other provisions of this Act come into force on a day appointed by the Welsh Ministers in an order made by statutory instrument.
