This Act aims to validate and confirm as lawful the approvals granted by the Governor-General for the early retirement of certain officers of the Jamaica Constabulary Force between 13 February and 13 August 2019, despite those approvals being technically improper under the new pensions framework that came into effect on 1 April 2018. The Act seeks to indemnify the Government and its representatives from any legal liability arising from these actions, recognising that the approvals were made in good faith based on the earlier legislation.
