Second Region

Forbids the employment of a pregnant public servant if working would endanger her health or that of the foetus; no pregnant public servant shall work 6 weeks before delivery unless she expresses the desire to continue to work. Prohibits work for a period of 8 weeks after birth, and extends this period to 12 weeks in the case of premature or multiple births. Prohibits night work and work involving heavy lifting, certain machinery, and long periods of standing for pregnant and nursing civil servants. Mothers shall be granted time to nurse their infants. Forbids the dismissal of a public servant during her pregnancy and four months after birth.
