Second Region

Following the termination of a marriage which has resulted on in one or more children , one parent shall assume the duty of parental guardianship according to legal divorce procedures. The present Act provides that another adult, who lives as a partner with a natural parent who has taken on guardianship of her or his child, can also assume the authority of guardianship. To be eligible as a legal guardian, the partner of the natural parent must contribute to the living costs and needs of the child and fulfil other related duties. Contains rules governing related matters.
