consolidates with amendments, the law on local government, and provides for the decentralisation and devolution of functions, powers and services to local councils and for other matters connected therewith. Repeals the Rural Areas Act (Cap. 75), the Sherbro Urban District Council Act (Cap. 76), the District Councils Act (Cap. 79), the Bo Town Council Act (Cap. 80), the Townships Act (Cap. 295), the City Council of Freetown (Validation and Confirmation of Acts) Act, 1960, the Local Authorities (Audit) Act, 1964, the Local Authorities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1965, the Local Authorities (Warrants for Rates) Act, 1966 and the Freetown Municipality Act, 1973.
